The problem with homemade Wills

There has recently been a landmark Court ruling in which a Will was overruled because all the formalities needed to make a valid Will had not been complied with. The Wills Act dates back to 1837 and sets out certain procedures to be followed to make sure the Will is valid.  If you fail to follow any one of the rules then the Will can be declared invalid and therefore your wishes may not be carried out.

We have seen a whole host of problems with ‘homemade’ Wills which leads to legal disputes and inevitable costs. Here at Blacks we take you through all the necessary formalities for making a valid Will to ensure the people you want to benefit do so. We charge a competitive rate of £300 plus VAT for a pair of Wills which you can rely on to meet your wishes. This would be far, far cheaper than your family dealing with a contested ‘homemade’ Will.
