Blacks sponsor Live At Leeds Music Festival
Blacks are very excited to announce that we are sponsoring this year’s Live At Leeds. For the uninitiated, Live At Leeds is a metropolitan music festival held annually across a variety of venues in Leeds on the first bank holiday weekend of May. In keeping with the ethos of our own Music, Media & Entertainment Law Department, Live At Leeds supports upcoming local bands together with more established national acts. Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran, Hurts and Alt-J have all graced its stages over the last seven years and my former band, Heads We Dance, even had the honour of playing Live At Leeds back in 2008!
This year the main event takes place on Saturday 4 May, when Live At Leeds hosts over a hundred bands including home-town heroes The Pigeon Detectives, recent Top 5 artists Rudimental and BBC Sound of 2013 nominees AlunaGeorge. Hotly-tipped local bands such as Post War Glamour Girls, Battle Lines and Witch Hunt will also perform.
However, Live At Leeds is more than just a fantastic music festival. On Friday 3 May the organisers run The Unconference, an associated music industry day which provides further support to the local music scene by inviting a series of guest experts to take part in panels and workshops. I will be taking part in The Unconference and will be answering questions about the legal aspects of the music industry.
If all the above wasn’t enough, you can also see The Vaccines play Leeds Millenium Square in a separate ticketed event on Sunday 5 May, and catch the 5-a-side football tournament on Monday 6 May where various bands compete for the coveted champion’s trophy.
