Martin House Dragon Boat Race. It’s not the winning…!

Yesterday saw the return of the Blacks Magic team in the annual Martin House Dragon Boat Race at Roundhay Park.
Our rowers this year were captain Anna Rhodes, Aimee Hutchinson, Alex Hall, Euan Lawrence, James Teagle, Jenny Neary, Nicholas Dyson, Nick Rhodes, Sonia Lonsdale, Amy Crook, Beth Laidler and drummer Stephanie Round.

We dressed as Disney characters but sadly, despite tremendous physical effort and Buzz Lightyear’s Cry of ‘to infinity and beyond!’, we were left consoling ourselves with 20^th position out of 26 teams. It’s not the winning…!

The weather was kind to us this year and temperatures of 20°C plus meant there was no better place to be than rowing down the lake raising money for a very worthy cause.

Colleagues, family and friends also joined us to offer their support and enjoy a barbeque together whilst basking in the sunshine.

Martin House Children’s Hospice cares for children and young people with progressive life limiting illnesses and provides invaluable support to their families. It is a local charity that we are proud to support. For more information please visit Martin House’s website .
